I was a heavy smoker (3 packs a day) all of my adult life. Physically I was in terrible health, grossly overweight at 335 pounds, and I couldn’t walk around large stores because of a low oxygen level. I was using oxygen at home when sitting around and also while sleeping.

You hypnotized me that day and I haven’t had a cigarette since. In a one year period, I have lost 105 pounds and ride my exercise bike two to three hours a day. This has helped my lungs recuperate to the degree that my pulmonary doctor has taken me off of oxygen and I can walk around quite well now.

I sincerely want to thank you for adding years to my life and probably saving my life from a future heart attack. Through your knowledge and ability to apply hypnosis to my condition, I can now live a fairly normal life.
Thank you so much. Yours truly,
Darryl R. It wasn’t long after the death of Carter Albrecht, a popular Texas musician that the FDA began to release warnings about the drugs tendencies to cause suicidal actions. Depite public health advisories and updated warnings on the drug’s label, many lawsuits began to emerge, confronting the drug company on their mistakes. The lawsuits range from a mother who used a handgun to commit suicide in front of her two young children, a woman who was found dead by her husband after committing suicide with a shotgun and an elderly woman who killed herself by inhaling large amounts of carbon monoxide. What is the common fact in all of these devastating situations? Chantix. (Rod Lamkey Jr/The Washington Times)

The Veterans Affairs Department is responsible for numerous "unacceptable failures" in ensuring safeguards for soldiers with post-traumatic stress disorder who were enrolled in a medical experiment to help them stop smoking, an internal review found Friday.

Despite the stinging report, the agency has decided to proceed with the experiment, including allowing participants to take a drug that carries risks of suicide and other psychotic behavior, officials said.

The investigation, prompted by a series of stories earlier this summer in The Washington Times as part of a joint investigation with ABC News, said that the smoking cessation study "did not adequately fulfill VA's singular responsibility to maximize safeguards for veterans who volunteer to participate in research."

The review by the VA's Office of Research Oversight (ORO) also found "unacceptable failures to maximize safeguards for the veterans who had volunteered to participate" in the study, including the lack of a system in place to alert researchers and participants when drug safety warnings are issued.

Researchers responsible for the smoking cessation study first failed to notify internal review boards that oversaw the experiment at 10 locations when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) first publicized concerns in November that the drug varenicline, commercially known as Chantix, may induce suicidal thoughts or actual suicides.

IWanttoQuitSmoking.com Hypnosis

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/sep/19/report-safety-lax-va-experiment/
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-17287057705649739202008-09-17T09:41:00.000-07:002008-09-17T09:43:19.815-07:00What area of your life could use some motivation? What area of your life could use some motivation? For many of us, its several areas we wish we had more motivation. What if you had unlimited motivation? Imagine what you could accomplish!

Perhaps you want to be more motivated in your career. Or maybe you want to change your career and you want to become more motivated in searching for a new job. Motivation in your career can lead to pay raises and promotions. And that can lead to a greater sense of accomplishment.

Another area that perhaps you want to have more motivation is dating. It takes motivation to get out there and to strike up a conversation with someone. It also takes motivation to ask for someone's number or ask someone out. Motivation in dating allows you to take control and feel in control.

We all want unlimited motivation and the reality is that you can have unlimited motivation. It takes a little practice at first. Whenever you feel the urge to put something off to a later date, you must ask yourself how you can do something about it RIGHT NOW! With unlimited motivation, procrastination is never an option.

Another area that many people need motivation is completing a project. I would like for you to ask yourself a question. How many projects do you currently have that are only partially complete? These projects can be work related or house projects. Or how many projects do you need to get done and you haven't even started?

I am trying to make you realize that you are not alone! Everyone has partially completed projects laying around the house. And everyone has projects they wish they could accomplish, but they haven't started working on them yet.

If you are the type of person who has many projects going at once, but none of them ever seem to be close to complete, then I suggest that you pick one and focus on that one projects. You will realize that when the goal is smaller, the goal is easier to accomplish.

If you are the type of person who does not even start on a project because you cannot see an end in sight, then I encourage you to sit down and map out how you can accomplish the project. Oftentimes, it's easier and more motivating to break down the project into short term goals, accomplishing something every week or month.

If you feel the need to get motivated, then I encourage you to think about what area of your life needs motivating the most, and start working on it today!

Read more here

IWanttoQuitSmoking.com Hypnosis
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-78789410206269129032008-09-14T07:24:00.000-07:002008-09-14T07:26:09.050-07:00Pfizer to Bring Back Chantix AdsPfizer to Bring Back Chantix Ads

Posted by Jacob Goldstein

A tortoise hawking Pfizer’s smoking-cessation drug Chantix will show up on TV screens Sunday, Forbes reports.

Recently, Pfizer’s been running ads about quitting smoking that don’t mention Chantix. But they do direct viewers to an unbranded Web site that has lots of pathways to the Chantix site.

Pfizer hasn’t run any ads that mention the drug by name since January, when concerns rose over the drug’s psychiatric side effects. By keeping the Chantix name out of the ads, Pfizer has also avoided having to discuss the downsides of the medicine.

The ads set to start airing this weekend are 90 seconds long, with about 40 seconds devoted to side effects associated with the drug. Common side effects include nausea, sleep disturbance and constipation.

IWanttoQuitSmoking.com Hypnosis

Comments

plese explain why this Ad is brought out again, and what good will it do to the company ? Peterson, a professor of medicine at Duke University Medical Center's Division of Cardiology and a member of the group reporting the findings.

Cardiologists at several institutions studied data on more than 111,000 people who had heart attacks, looking specifically at body mass index (BMI), a measure of obesity. Someone with a BMI of 30 or above is regarded as obese; a person 5 feet, 7 inches tall who weighs 192 pounds has a BMI of 30.

The average age of a first heart attack for people with a BMI of 18.5 or under was 74.6 years. For people with a BMI of 40 or over, it was 58.7 years. The age at which a first heart attack occurred went up steadily with increasing BMI -- 3.5 years earlier for a BMI of 25 to 30; 6.8 years earlier for a BMI 30 to 35; 9.4 years for a BMI of 35 to 40; and 12 years earlier for a BMI 40 or higher.

IWanttoQuitSmoking.com Hypnosis
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-40858503650007859932008-09-12T08:47:00.000-07:002008-09-12T09:01:16.684-07:00Drugs Affect More Drinking WaterAP Enterprise: Drugs Affect More Drinking Water
AP Enterprise: Recent tests detect pharmaceuticals in drinking water of 46 million Americans
By MARTHA MENDOZA AP National Writer
September 12, 2008 (AP) The Associated Press

Map locates cites in the U.S. where pharmaceuticals have been detected in drinking water supplies;
(AP)Testing prompted by an Associated Press story that revealed trace amounts of pharmaceuticals in drinking water supplies has shown that more Americans are affected by the problem than previously thought — at least 46 million.

That's up from 41 million people reported by the AP in March as part of an investigation into the presence of pharmaceuticals in the nation's waterways.

The AP stories prompted federal and local legislative hearings, brought about calls for mandatory testing and disclosure, and led officials in at least 27 additional metropolitan areas to analyze their drinking water. While the Legislature finishes its work on 2008 bills, a budget has still not been adopted for fiscal year 2008-2009. The main focus of the Legislature will be passing a state budget which is over a month late, but the Legislature will also continue with hearings and votes on all the bills that are still alive (including three tobacco-related bills) because the end of the 2008 legislative session is near.

The three tobacco-related bills (AB 2344: Annual Fee for State Tobacco Retailer License, AB 2662: Clarifying Tobacco Cessation Benefits for Medi-Cal and AB 3010: Prohibiting Tobacco Use at State Mental Hospitals) are all scheduled for a hearing before the Senate Appropriations Committee today. If these bills are passed by the Appropriations Committee they will move to the floor for a vote by the full Senate.

The Legislature will adjourn for the year on or before August 31. All bills must be passed by both houses and sent to the Governor for his signature before this date. As the legislative activity increases on tobacco-related bills during the final weeks of session, I will send out weekly legislative updates.

WeeklySnapShot

www.statescape.com
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-53495030475138641512008-08-03T13:27:00.000-07:002008-08-03T13:47:23.325-07:00There's a story of twin brothers that you might find interesting. There's a story of twin brothers that you might find interesting. These brothers grew up in a very poor family and difficult times. Their youth was a struggle of survival as they helped support their family, working early mornings on the farm and then late into the night after they finished their homework. They shared the hard labor, working side by side through it all. When they grew up and moved away, their lives took different paths. One brother became very successful in business and life, raising a family and enjoying the fruits of his labors. The other brother struggled to keep a job, lived alone, and became an alcoholic.

One day, a college student read an article about the successful brother, who told of his childhood and mentioned he had a twin brother. The student did some research and discovered the sad tale of the other twin. Having read about the uncanny similarities between adult twins, she became curious about how such a gap could happen between the lives of these brothers who were identical and even shared the same upbringing. She decided to interview them and learn more.

As she sat down for the interview with the successful brother, he smiled and shook her hand, appreciating the comfortable chair she had provided and the beautiful decor of the room. She asked him, "How do you explain the way life turned out for you?" He shared how the struggles of his childhood had taught him the importance of staying focused and seeing the positive in every moment. "You know," he said, "even in the rough times, we had each other. Life brings all sorts of ups and downs. You just have to do the best you can and enjoy the ride!"

Next, she interviewed the other twin. He walked into the same room and sat in the same chair. He grumbled about bad traffic and complained about wasting his Saturday on this foolishness. She asked, "How do you explain the way life turned out for you?" He frowned and told of the hardships that poverty brings. He recounted stories of how the cruel world had let him down. He closed saying,
"You don't get any breaks in life," he said. "We were dirt poor and I never got a chance at the good life. Life beats you up then kicks you when you're down."

The interviews over, the student went back home and thought about what she'd learned. As she reflected on the tale of the brothers, she realized that if the same experience can wield such different responses, there must be more to it than just what's happening in the world around us. She decided that life is more about what's inside than what's out there.

T W I N B R O T H E R

www.mcsweeneys.net
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-74475036543642238112008-08-02T08:06:00.000-07:002008-08-02T08:09:41.362-07:00Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control ActWednesday, July 30, the House of Representatives voted on H.R. 1108, the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act. This bill would provide the federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) with the authority to regulate tobacco products. Among other things, H.R. 1108 would require tobacco companies to provide a detailed
disclosure of ingredients in their products, prohibit tobacco companies from making health claims about their products without adequate scientific evidence and ban all flavored cigarettes except menthol. Previous versions of a bill to provide the FDA with the authority to regulate tobacco products have passed the Senate in years past but this is the first time such a bill will be voted on by the House of Representatives.

If you are interested in watching the debate and vote on this bill, you can view House floor proceedings at http://www.cspan.org/Watch/C-SPAN_wm.aspx. H.R. 1108 is on the suspension calendar, meaning that the bill will be debatable for up to 40 minutes and that it must receive two-thirds vote for passage. This bill is the 14th bill listed on the suspension calendar and the House recently finished debate on the 9th bill on the suspension calendar. More details about the House vote and the bill will be sent out tomorrow following the vote.

Read more here

IWanttoQuitSmoking.com Hypnosis
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-20705210966767870862008-07-29T18:22:00.000-07:002008-07-29T18:25:32.712-07:00VA Leaders Questioned On Response To Suicide Risk In Agency StudyBy Stephen Spotswood

Posted: 29-July-2008

WASHINGTON—In what is becoming a regular ritual on Capitol Hill, legislators took Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) leaders to task last month, this time for a possible breakdown in the agency’s human subject protection system of a study on combining smoking cessation therapy with therapy for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study began in 2004 and was designed to determine whether smoking cessation therapy would be better implemented when combined with PTSD therapy, or whether treatments should be kept separate. Irregularities came to light in June in news reports that highlighted the discovery of suicide as being a possible side effect of Chantix, one of the smoking cessation drugs administered to some patients in the study, and VA’s delayed notification of study participants taking the drug of those side effects.

www.usmedicine.com
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-29957114350207640442008-07-26T08:08:00.000-07:002008-07-26T08:12:14.907-07:00And now a few words about creative visualization:You know when you are working on something and you just can't seem to come up with new and fresh ideas? This happens to me every now and then. It's like a writer's block. I call it a creativity block.

In order to accomplish your goals and dreams, sometimes a little inspiration is needed. If you work in a creative field such as writing, design, or painting, you are probably trying to constantly come with new and creative things. In addition to needing creative and fresh ideas, sometimes it is hard to focus. Perhaps you have to meet a deadline and you feel pressure to come up with something new.

For me, some of my best ideas seem to randomly pop into my head. Sometimes I'm not even trying to focus on my work and I visualize a new idea. The other day I was running some errands and I got a new idea for a product line to offer on my website. With hypnosis you can achieve creative visualization.

Writer's Block

www.emofree.com
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15688751.post-68909946805241083402008-07-24T15:17:00.000-07:002008-07-24T15:21:04.925-07:00Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates Join to Combat Global Tobacco EpidemicJuly 23, 2008
Bloomberg and Gates Commit $500 Million and Call on Governments to Implement Proven Interventions to Reduce Tobacco Use, Save Lives

[New York - July 23, 2008] Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates today announced joint efforts to combat the global tobacco epidemic. A combined investment of $500 million will help governments in developing countries implement proven policies and increase funding for tobacco control. Unless urgent action is taken, as many as one billion people this century - more than two-thirds in the developing world - could die from tobacco-caused illnesses. Paula Johns, executive director of Brazil's Alliance for the Control of Tobacco Use, and broadcast journalist Charlie Rose joined Bloomberg and Gates for the announcement.

Bloomberg's Initiative to Reduce Tobacco Use, which was established in 2005 and includes a $125 million commitment, will be extended with a new $250 million, four-year commitment. This brings Bloomberg's total commitment to date to more than $375 million.

www.mikebloomberg.com
Home Page

Find Our Professional Hypnosis Locations Here
Mark Barrus (888) 865 -1870noreply@blogger.com
