Hypnotherapist
A Hypnotherapist uses Hypnosis to induce a deep state of relaxation in a client, during which their sub or unconscious minds are highly receptive to new perspectives and ideas.
The reason Hypnosis is so effective lies in the extreme power of our unconscious mind, which is responsible for keeping us safe and helping us. Our unconscious mind is thought to process literally 100,000’s of pieces of information at any given time, whilst storing over 400,000,000 relating to our beliefs, attitudes, behavioral habits, memories, etc.
Our unconscious mind takes care of all our automatic responses, such as the regulation of our breathing, blood circulation and tissue repair, all without us having to consciously think about it. But the unconscious mind also stores all our learned responses, i.e. behaviors we’ve learnt since birth. These might include walking, picking things up or riding a bike, to name some of the positive ones and again, all of these we do without consciously having to think about it.
But the unconscious mind also stores our less resourceful and sometimes problematic learned responses or behavioral habits, which might include being afraid of flying, or having anxiety in certain situations, or plain old smoking. So in order to modify some of these a responses, or habits or even behaviors, it follows that we must first access the unconscious mind and re-programme it.

Neuro Linguistic Programming
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) has been described as a software manual for the brain. It is a proven model for accelerating human change and is used as a means to improve the way we think, feel and behave.
Ultimately, NLP is a model of communication that focuses on identifying and using patterns of language and thought to influence a person's behaviour. It offers a definition of how the brain works (neuro), about how language interacts with the brain (linguistic) and how we use this interaction to get the results we want for ourselves and others (programming).
NLP was initially created by linguist Dr John Grinder and computer scientist and Gestalt therapist Dr Richard Bandler. Together they produced a linguistic model that identified the language patterns of a few exceptionally gifted individuals such as hypnotherapist Milton Erickson, Fritz Perls of Gestalt therapy and anthropologist Gregory Bateson.
The collection of their findings, a blend of cognitive and behavioural science, resulted in the technology known as Neuro Linguistic Programming. In the 25+ years since it was first developed, NLP has grown, changed and expanded, and it continues to do so today.
Phobia
A fear is a rational or legitimate concern, a survival instinct which warns us that we are in the presence of real danger. Having a fear of fire for example is very rational, because experience has taught us that fire can burn and potentially kill us. So to safeguard ourselves, we fear fire.
However when this fear becomes irrational, when we become overly concerned about something that does not present a real danger to us, this is when the fear becomes a phobia and when it can start affecting our lives in a significantly negative way. For example a fear of flying can prevent us from travelling to countries we’d love to explore. A fear of the dentist can prevent us from visiting one, potentially leading to some very significant health issues. And social phobias can prevent us from going out and living happy and fulfilling lives.
Phobias have their roots in our unconscious minds and can be described as learned responses. The reason they are described as learned is because no one is born with a phobia – they develop over time as result of us either us modelling someone else’s response to a particular stimuli or, as a result of a one off specific event that has stayed with us.
Either way, Hypnotherapy and NLP is the route to take if you want to live a life free of unnecessary phobias, because these two treatments focus on retraining our unconscious mind to see the perceived threat or danger in a more rational and resourceful way.
Insomnia
We all need a good night sleep, but unfortunately for a lot of people bed time is a time of anxiety, boredom, rumination and stress.
Some people find it incredibly difficult to get to sleep in the first place (Primary Insomnia). Other people wake up multiple times during the night and find it difficult to get back to sleep (Middle Insomnia). And others wake up very early and are not able to get back to sleep at all (Terminal Insomnia).
Whichever you suffer from, onsomnia is extremely debilitating, leaving you feeling tired, anxious and emotionally unstable, impairing your ability to react creatively and appropriately to every day situations. It can affect your relationships, your business and, your physical health.
The primary causes of insomnia include: psychological factors such as stress, anxiety and depression; physical factors such as pain, hormone changes or any number of medical conditions; and temporary factors such as changing sleep patterns, over use of caffeine or other stimulants, or a major change in one’s environment.
Irrespective of the cause, the most common solution seems to be the use of pharmaceuticals. But whilst sleeping pills can have a positive impact, they do not deal with the root causes of insomnia and, can often lead to dependence.
Hypnotherapy and NLP however deal with the symptoms of insomnia in entirely holistic manner. Not only do they help you to deal with the root cause of your insomnia, but they also provide you with useful learning in relation to more effective sleep strategies and, ongoing relaxation through self hypnosis techniques. Hypnotherapy and NLP are extremely effective tools for curing sleep problems and disorders.
Anxiety
Experiencing mild Anxiety, the type associated with speaking in public or going on a first date, is a perfectly natural response to stress and in the main, helps us deal with difficult situations more effectively.
However when Anxiety becomes more acute, often for no apparent reason, it can become extremely debilitating. Indeed, after experiencing Anxiety Attacks, many of our clients say they feel lost, desperate and more scared than ever before.
Hypnotherapy and NLP have been widely recognised as effective tools for the treatment and ultimately resolution of acute Anxiety Conditions, including Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
The reason that Hypnotherapy and NLP are so effective in treating acute Anxiety Conditions and Disorders lies in the fact that Anxiety is a learned response of our unconscious mind. And because Hypnotherapy and NLP focus on effecting change in our unconscious mind, they are extremely helpful in retraining ourselves to respond in more resourceful, positive and helpful ways. Link
