Obama Promises Not to Smoke in the White House
After skirting around the issue of whether or not he has quit smoking, President-elect Barack Obama told Tom Brokaw that he would abide by and maintain the White House's no-smoking rule, Reuters reported Dec. 7.
"What I would say is that I have done a terrific job under the circumstances of making myself much healthier," Obama said to Brokaw on NBC's Meet the Press, regarding his effort to stop his 20-year addiction to cigarettes. "You will not see any violations of these rules in the White House."
The rule was put in place by former First Lady Hillary Clinton, who is now Obama's nominee for secretary of state.
