“John gave me the courage
and the tools to finally
get over my smoking habit.
I really didn’t think
I could ever beat it,
and with John’s help
it was painless.
I am a believer!”

What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis, also referred to as hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion, is a trance-like state of mind. It is usually achieved with the help of a hypnotherapist and is different from your everyday awareness. When you're under hypnosis:
Your attention is more focused
You're deeply relaxed and calm
You're more open to suggestions, and less critical or disbelieving
The purpose of hypnosis is to help you gain more control over your behavior, emotions or physical well-being.
When you're hypnotized, you can concentrate intensely on a specific thought, memory, feeling or sensation while blocking out distractions. You're more open than usual to suggestions, and this can be used to change your behavior and thereby improve your health and well-being. What conditions could hypnotherapy help?
Hypnotherapy has the potential to help relieve the symptoms of a wide variety of diseases and conditions. It can be used independently or along with other treatments. According to preliminary studies, hypnotherapy may be used to:
Change negative behaviors, such as smoking, bed-wetting and overeating
Reduce or eliminate fears, stress and anxiety
Treat pain during childbirth and reduce labor time
Control pain during dental and surgical procedures
Relieve symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
Lower blood pressure
Control nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy
Reduce the intensity or frequency of headaches, including migraines
Treat and ease the symptoms of asthma
Hasten the healing of some skin diseases, including warts, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis
What can I expect during my first hypnosis session?
Your first visit with Dr. Paun will involve a thorough history, explanation of hypnosis, and suggestibility assessment. Suggestibility testing is done to ensure that you are a hypnosis candidate and are indeed suggestible. If it is determined that you are a good candidate for hypnosis then the first treatment is scheduled. There is no charge if it is determined that you are not a candidate for hypnosis.
How many sessions will I need?
Studies show that treatments using several sessions is more effective that those that use only one. Dr. Paun takes many factors into consideration when developing your unique treatment plan. Often, anywhere from 3-7 sessions is suggested depending on your history and condition.
What happens when I am done with my sessions?
Dr. Paun teaches a three step method for self hypnosis. This is to be done following the in-office visits and will increase the likelihood of continued progress with your condition. Dr. Paun feels this is essential in the long-term success of your hypnosis treatment. Dr. Paun also offers "booster" sessions on an as needed bases.
