Hypnosis is as simple as active imagination plus focused attention in a relaxed state. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. In other words, I can facilitate a hypnotic trance in another person, but only if that person is willing to have the hypnotic experience. With hypnosis, I can create therapeutic images through metaphors, evoke positive and empowering memories or use positive affirmations to enable the individual to achieve the change he/she wants. Incorporated in a sound treatment plan, it is useful in addressing issues like: building confidence, overcoming fears, phobias, anxiety, weight loss and to stop smoking. Hypnosis has been an accepted form of treatment for certain disorders by the American Medical Association in 1958. It was used extensively during the civil war to treat combat victims in the field, when medicine and supplies were limited or unavailable.

What if I can't be hypnotized?

Anyone can be hypnotized. Remember, all hypnosis is self hypnosis, whether it is facilitated and directed by another or not. Everyone naturally goes in and out of hypnotic trances everyday, as one falls asleep and then again, as one awakens. A person can achieve a hypnotic state of relaxation when he/she has all questions answered, wants to by hypnotized and wants to make a change.

Can a person get stuck in a hypnotic trance?

No, you are always in complete control, even in the deepest part of the trance.
