Muriel P. Warren, DSW, ACSW, is a Psychotherapist, Hypnotherapist, Author, and Educator engaged in Private Practice in Rockland County. She is the former Executive Director of the Psychoanalytic Center for Communicative Education and Past President of the International Society for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. She holds degrees from Fordham, Columbia, and Adelphi Universities in Psychology and Social Work, as well as a Certificate in Psychoanalysis from Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. She is a Diplomate at the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and Executive Director and President of the Warren Trauma Institute established in May 2004.
Dr. Warren explains in her book, "Trauma, Treatment and Transformation", that we are now living under a new level of stress, she has named the National Trauma Syndrome, which requires all therapists to expand their toolboxes of treatment techniques. She explains psychotherapists cannot take away the despair of traumatic events or compensate for losses, but they can help patients feel their pain and recognize it as a transition point between "before" and "after". They can help their patients find the doorway to life again.
Dr. Warren also holds numerous awards including a National Presidential Leadership Award and many Achievement Awards from the International Society of Communicative Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy.
