“It’s never too late to be who you might have been.” — George Eliot. Isn’t it time to get unblocked and start moving forward? Gain wisdom, take positive action, and let me show you how!
I’m deeply passionate about personal growth, transformation, and self-empowerment, and I’m dedicated to helping others get unstuck so they can unleash their full potential now. We are meant to thrive, not just survive—even in the desert!
As the saying goes, ‘And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.’ It’s never too late to become who you might have been!
One of my guiding principles is to watch your thoughts because they become words; watch your words because they become actions; watch your actions because they become habits; watch your habits because they become character; and watch your character because it becomes your destiny.
You might wonder how someone with a background in retail sales management and seven years in the electronics industry (marketing & sales) transitions into the helping profession. For me, it was a calling—a calling that was propelled by the universe when the bottom fell out of the semiconductor industry, and I was laid off. It was a turning point that pushed me to figure out what I truly wanted to do next.
I wasn’t particularly fond of the industry anyway, so I eagerly pursued a new career path. However, I had just moved out on my own and had rent to pay. With a small financial cushion, I began waitressing and returned to school, earning my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hofstra University. My savings quickly went to education and living expenses, but it was an investment in my future.
I became deeply interested in women’s empowerment and volunteered for the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV). Volunteering at the safe home for women and their children was an incredibly rewarding experience. I later worked part-time for NCCADV, manning the after-hours hotline and handling data entry in the office.
After graduation, I also volunteered at the Discovery Enrichment Center in Port Washington, where I was trained as a Team Leader to teach children confidence-building, self-esteem, leadership, and social skills. This experience solidified my desire to make a difference in people’s lives.
I went on to graduate school for Social Work at Adelphi University, initially as a part-time student while working full-time. After the first year, I transitioned to full-time status, balancing a 21-hour per week internship with full-time work to meet my living expenses.
Encouraged by my field supervisor, I pursued a concentration in Mental Health & Chemical Dependency. After graduation, I began working at Seafield Services Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Center, where I received excellent training. After two years, I moved to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry in Brooklyn, NY, where I worked for seven years on the front lines, treating the most severe and persistently mentally ill chemically addicted individuals.
At Brookdale, I was responsible for a program called Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), where our clinical team brought services to clients in the community. Following my time at Brookdale, I became Executive Director of a leading outpatient drug and alcohol treatment center on Long Island. Today, I have a private practice in Suffolk County.
In my practice, I use a variety of treatment modalities—what I like to call ‘tools in my toolbox.’ I adhere to the philosophy of ‘whatever works’ in helping individuals get unstuck and make positive changes in their lives. Too often, people get comfortable with their discomfort and remain in unhealthy situations that inhibit personal growth.
After earning my Master of Social Work degree, I continued my search for effective treatments to help individuals overcome limiting beliefs. I became certified in Clinical Hypnotherapy because I knew it worked. Eight years earlier, I had quit smoking with the help of hypnosis and knew that one day I wanted to help others break free from cigarettes. On February 16, 2009, I celebrated my 21st anniversary of quitting smoking! I also became certified as an EMDR specialist for the treatment of trauma and learned the art of Reiki and Magnified Healing, using energy as a healing technique.
My ultimate goal is to assist individuals in unleashing their full potential now. It’s essential to become balanced physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The tools I use help individuals align with their higher purpose. Remember…
