How Do You Heal Rejection?

How did the world become so polarized? There are seemingly two divisions. Not the 2 you may be thinking of, but 2 bigger divisions. And it really seems like it’s half of the population. Have you guessed it yet? I believe that there are those that blame others for their lack of happiness, and those that believe that they can take responsibility for their own happiness. Those that blame others are easy to find. They are the ones that cut in front of you in traffic, or in line at the grocery store. They have that “look” on their face that they have been “wronged”, and they may have been. They might feel that their feelings have been rejected by others and that they have been victimized. They are not necessarily wrong, but they are hurt on the inside.

The world has been going through a collective trauma for some time now. The problem is that there is a lack of consensus on how to protect ourselves and others. Many people are upset because other people reject their opinion on how to live and cope with today’s world. When people feel that their opinions get rejected, many become obstinate and react impulsively. People don’t like being told how they show feel. Herein lies a big problem.

Freedom does not mean we have the right to endanger ourselves or others. If we break the law, our freedom can be taken away from us at a moment’s notice. Here in the USA, the First Amendment is for everyone. There are five freedoms it protects: speech, religion, press, assembly, and the right to petition the government. That may seem like a lot, and it is,  but it is important how we react to others when our opinions are rejected by others.

According to the United Nations, Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more.  Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination. The question I have is what is the best way to react when your Rights or Freedom had been threatened? How do you handle the rejection?

There has been a wave after wave of social distancing requirements, and some form of shelter in place for over 10 months. Here in the United States, each region has been reacting surprisingly different from others, and many regions have also required our citizens restrict human contact. As you know, social distancing practices are observed by some and not others. As a result of living in a confined setting, many of us are dealing with this collective trauma in different ways.

This is the first time in known history where quarantine has affected the overall society as a whole. As a result, new Public Health crises are on the rise. This article will look at varying forms of rejection and abandonment. Is hypnosis for fear of rejection a viable option to overcome issues associated with the pandemic?

A Bristol University sociologist commented on the fact that domestic violence increases when families are together for a significant period of time. These time frames are usually highlighted during the winter holiday season along with breaks during the summer. Domestic abuse hotlines have been overwhelmed recently due to an increase in reports.

Who Are the Victims of Domestic Abuse?

These reports include the typical male versus female. There have also been increased instances of females attacking their male partners. Lastly, same-sex couples have also witnessed an increase in domestic violence across the globe.

These numbers have surged due to an extended time with an abusive partner. Having economic uncertainty has also contributed to the stress of wondering where the next meal may come. Outreach with community services has also been limited due to the constraints of person to person contact.

As a result, the typical outlets for support have been nonexistent. To combat the limited resources for cash-strapped families, celebrities like Rihanna have donated over 2 million dollars to support victims of domestic violence in Los Angeles. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has also contributed matching funds that will ultimately cover shelter, counseling, and meals.  This is for those families that have recently experienced higher levels of violence in the home.

How Do I Get Over The Fear Of Rejection And Abandonment?

Your friendly neighborhood divorce attorney has been working overtime during this challenging time as well. What if families are already separated due to divorce?  Does that take on a new meaning for visitation rights?

What if one spouse is obliging suggestions around the quarantine while the other is not? How are the children being affected? Does this mean that the spouses should get back together?

Spending all of this time together is having the friendly neighborhood divorce lawyer answering another set of phone calls. What if all of this time together with your spouse has made you realize that you no longer want to continue in this relationship? Those little things that were tolerable in small instances before are now driving couples up a wall.

How Do You Get Over A Romantic Rejection in the Single Dating Landscape?

Anxiety also exists amongst adults that are single and in the dating world. Is virtual dating really a thing now? Does the beautiful person that you have identified on a dating app really like you?

Are they just wasting your time because they have nothing better to do? Will you also be rejected because the company you work for has gone out of business and now job prospects have frozen the hiring process as well?

Is Bullying the Best Way to Achieve the Desired Outcome?

Researchers in this study wanted to measure whether bullying a person could negatively or positively affect their performance. In the past, doctors have used beta-blocking drugs to switch mood to enhance an individual’s performance. However, there were noticeable side effects that included fatigue and battles with depression. They were open to exploring alternative methods that could not only improve a person’s performance but less than anxiety without the negative side effects.

There was a sample size of over forty individuals that took part in this pilot study. Each individual had previously experienced anxiety with regard to their level of music performance. They would also receive testing after two years to measure whether the hypnosis strategies that were taught were long-lasting.

Fear of Rejection Hypnosis

The two psycho-therapeutic methods used were cognitive hypnotherapy combined with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. This was to test the cognitive anxiety of each individual and how effective it was with regards to their musical performance. The combination was used as previous studies hinted at cognitive hypnotherapy being effective in lowering focal anxiety. EMDR was used to address any level of social fears associated with performing in public.

Having the fear of rejection based on poor performance and Associated social ridicule was minimized in each of the students that took part in this study. These levels of confidence were consistent when they were tested again at the twenty-four months’ timeline. Researchers felt that the combination of cognitive hypnotherapy along with EMDR was a great solution for overcoming fears of rejection. Additional studies were suggested due to the small sample size.

During times of uncertainty, fear of rejection from loved ones can be overwhelming. The perception may be different from reality. Having a remote session with a licensed clinical hypnotherapist may prove beneficial to give an overall sense of well-being to make the best out of your individual situation.
