The Terre Haute City Council has unanimously approved a smoking ban in all public places. Our partners at WTHI-TV report the ordinance will go into effect. That’s when Vigo County Commissioners are expected to make a decision on a similar smoke-free proposal.
May restaurant and bar owners in Terre Haute were concerned about losing business to establishments outside the city if the new regulations went into effect this year.
Before the city’s ban kicks-in council members will examine whether some venues, including VFW and American Legion posts, should be exempt.
